The Very Rev. Winnie Varghese, Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, to Join the Millions 4 Menopause 5K

Dean Varghese Adds Her Voice to the 2nd Annual Event in Prospect Park, Brooklyn

Mpowered Menopause today announced that The Very Rev. Winnie Varghese, Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, will participate in the 2nd Annual Millions 4 Menopause 5K, taking place Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 9:30 AM in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.

Dean Varghese made history in 2025 as the first woman named Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in its more than 130-year history, one of the most prominent pulpits in the Episcopal Church. Her participation adds a powerful voice of faith and community leadership to a cause centered on breaking the silence around menopause.

The Millions 4 Menopause 5K brings together walkers and runners from across New York City to raise funds and awareness for menopause research, education, and community support. Now in its second year, the event has grown its partnership with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, moving to a larger venue in Prospect Park and adding a timed race option alongside the traditional community walk.

“I’m so grateful to millions 4 menopause for supporting all of us who are lucky enough to live long enough to go through menopause. We deserve the focus of the scientific community, the research and innovation and to improve our health and quality of life through this important phase of life.” said The Very Rev. Winnie Varghese, Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Lauren Jones, Founder of Mpowered Menopause said "Having Dean Varghese join us means so much. I live in the Diocese and have attended events at the Cathedral. It means so much to me to have Dean Varghese near and to know that she has spent her career building community and speaking truth to silence. Menopause is exactly the kind of silence we're working to break. We're honored to have her raising awareness for this cause."

Since its inaugural walk in 2025, Mpowered Menopause has formed an Advisory Council of respected professionals across medicine, research, and advocacy, and has hosted community events connecting women navigating menopause and perimenopause with support and resources, often for the first time.
